BISA PGN Conference

On the day before the main BISA conference in Dublin, the Postgraduate Network (PGN) is holding a one-day conference on the theme of ‘conflict’ broadly understood, details of which are available on the PGN website: http://bisapgn.wordpress.com/pgn-conference-2014/

The CPD Working Group is pleased to announce that it will be sponsoring up to two panels at this workshop for postgraduate scholars working broadly within our remit: https://cpdbisa.wordpress.com

We are also now pleased to announce that we have 4 *£150 scholarships available exclusively for postgrads presenting on the CPD panels at the PGN conference. These scholarships can only be used to support travel and accommodation costs arising from participation in the PGN conference, and can only be issued as reimbursements following the provision of receipts for expenditure.

If you wish to be considered for inclusion in the CPD panels at the PGN conference, you should send a 200-word abstract to bisapgn2014[at]gmail.com, copying in ms140[at]soas.ac.uk, by 10th March 2014. We will re-confirm receipt of abstracts received late last year but if you have not had the abstract re-confirmed by the  end of the week, please email ms140[at]soas.ac.uk.

If you also wish to be considered for one of our £150 scholarships, you should email ms140[at]soas.ac.uk by 10th March with the following details:

1 Student Name and institution/ email contact

2 Confirmation of current BISA membership

3 Title and 200 word abstract of your PGN paper

4 Are you in receipt of any other sources of funding to attend the PGN conference? If so, please indicate

5 200 word statement from your supervisor (include email address and name) as to the value of the PGN conference to you

We will be allocating the scholarships after the panels have been decided, based on the quality of the abstract and the availability (or not) of other funding, in order to maximise participation at the event. Those who are unsuccessful in getting the CPD scholarships will still be eligible to apply for one of the ten general PGN scholarships of £75.

We look forward to receiving your abstracts, and to an excellent event in June. Please directly any general queries about the PGN conference to bisapgn2014[at]gmail.com, and any specific queries about the CPD element to ms140[at]soas.ac.uk. If in doubt, copy us both in.
